Dependent on the organism submitted, 1 or more of the following methods will be used:

Conventional Biochemical Testing, Microscan Panels, E-test Susceptibility Strips

Specimen Requirements

Pure organism referred for identification growing alone on a media plate, slant, or broth culture.

When this test is ordered, the reflex tests may be performed at an additional charge. All isolated growing bacteria submitted will be identified and billed, as appropriate:

87076 - identification, per anaerobe isolate identified

87077 - identification, per aerobic isolate identified

87181 x5 - anaerobic sensitivity, per isolate (if appropriate)

87186 - MIC, per isolate (if appropriate)
