Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Serum
Collection Container/Tube:

Preferred:  Gold (gel separator) or Red (plain)

Acceptable:  Plasma, Green top Lithium heparin

Specimen Volume: 2.0 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.2 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Protect from light.

2. Allow serum tubes to clot completely. This may take up to 30 minutes.

3. Remove sample from cells by pipetting.

3. Indicate whether serum or plasma.
