Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Urine, 24-hr collection

Specimen Volume: 10 mL from a 24-hr urine collection

Collections Instructions:

1. Collect urine for 24 hours. Follow instructions in Urine Collections in Special Instructions.

2. No preservative if refrigerated during collection.

3. 24-hour urine specimens can also be preserved by adding 5 mL glacial acetic acid to the container before starting the collection

4. Mix well before taking a 10 mL aliquot.
